Joel and Clementine have just gone through a horrible break-up. While Joel tries to fix their relationship, he discovers that Clementine has gone through a clinical procedure to remove their relationship from her memory. Devastated by this fact, Joel decides to go through the same procedure to erase Clementine from his memory. During this process, Joel has to go through their memories all over.
